Lovey Testimonial!

Hi Jill!

We had a fantastic wedding and were so pleased with our dance lessons.  Todd and I were actually receiving applause each time we did a twirl…. good stuff!!  We practiced everyday after we last saw you and did pretty well, except for one slip on the dress.  But I don’t think anyone really noticed.

Our photographer surprised us and one of his assistants was taking video so he put together this little montage in a link below.  The second half of the video is pretty much of us dancing.  He didn’t get all of our smooth moves but they got a good essence of the dance.  And Todd and I decided to practice before the grand entrance so they got some great shots of the dance under the sun set.

So no photos yet of the dress but I think you will get a good idea of you watch the second half (it is only 3 minutes long).

Thanks again for all of your help and we wish you the best of luck!

Warm Regards,
Alyssa

“So Beautiful”

Extra!  Extra!

Pictures* hot off the press from Lindsey and Scott’s romantic Summer wedding.

Lindsey & Scott Dance!

Oh my, oh my – I couldn’t wait to post these gorgeous pictures from Lindsey & Scott’s wedding reception July 24th at the Huntington Beach Hyatt.

They danced an adorable foxtrot to “So Beautiful” by Darin Hayes.

The bride was a tad on the shy side so we kept the moves intimate, fun and flirty and all angled toward the groom to keep the couple using the floor lots and showing off Lindsey’s amazing gown.

Lindsey sent me an email on July 26th just two days after the big day saying,

Hi, I just wanted to let you know everyone liked our dance.  We messed up a little but it was ok everyone thought it was cute and really enjoyed it!  So we wanted to thank you so much!!  Lindsey and Scott

And…

Their outstanding and charming wedding planner, Christine Baumgartner of The Perfect Day sent me an email as well!

Hi Jillian,

I wanted to let you know that Lindsey and Scott did a wonderful first dance at their reception.  They looked lovely and happy.  They both told me how much they enjoyed working with you.

Thanks again for helping them, Christine

In Love!

How Wonderful :-)

I just love to hear back from everyone about their big day and see all the pictures.

Call me with any questions about your special first dance.

I can’t wait to get started, Jillian

Shake, Shake, Shake

Remember when I told you about Janet and Keith who worked so hard on their beautiful first dance and then surprised their guests with a follow up belly dance number complete with red coin skirt over Janet’s wedding dress and Keith in turban???

Well today I opened up my email and what should appear?

But their fabulous YouTube of their surprise belly dance!

Thought you might get a kick out of it, so here it is… great music!

We did some gorgeous shimmies and shakes while keeping everything “wedding reception appropriate” and then the bride invited the groom out of his chair to do some dancing of his own!

If you’re thinking about doing something a little different with your first dance – go ahead, I would love to help you realize your dream! Your first dance is your expression of your individual relationship and your special love for each other so let your imagination roll.

Support, Guidance and… FUN!

Lisa & Ryan Dancing!

Hot off the press!

Lisa and Ryan – just married Saturday June 26th – sent me an email to let me know how their big day went and included this adorable picture.

Lisa looks oh-so-sexy in her gorgeous gown with the perfect flower in her long flowing curls and Ryan is the quintessential adoring husband in his dashing white suit.

Hi Jillian!

We wanted to send you a quick pic of us dancing as a sneak peak before we get the video back.

Our wedding was simply magical.

And SO many people complimented us on our first dance.

It went beautifully and we greatly appreciate your support and guidance with our fun, fun lessons.  We will send you a video clip as soon as we receive it.

Cheers, Lisa & Ryan

***

Lisa and Ryan danced on their big day to “L-O-V-E” and also learned dance routines of five to eight figures in merengue, cha cha, swing and more foxtrot to their second fav song “Feeling Good” to wow their guests all through their reception with their fun and kicky couple dancing.

I can’t wait to see their video and hear more about their fabulous wedding and reception.  They were such a wonderful couple to work with and I shall think of them often, especially when I’m teaching dance in the early morning!

***

Here’s their sweet thank you note and a picture of their gifts to me.  I got a bottle of  Old Moon zin that they served their guests and a large plant of what they did smaller for guest favors.  :-)

Jillian,

Thank you for being the most patient, persistent, OUTRAGEOUS dance teacher ever!

Your guidance the past few months has meant more to us than you know.  We feel so much more prepared for our big day.

We’re going to blow them away!!

Many thanks, Lisa & Ryan

Lovey Gifts

Happy honeymooning in St. Lucia Lisa and Ryan!

And may you dance up a storm with your merengue and cha cha in the romantic tropical evenings…

WE’RE MARRIED!!!

Testimonials are sooo exciting and it’s that time of year when I’m getting a bunch!

This first one just in from a fantastic couple that worked sooo hard over several months to make their dance beautiful and meaningful to each other and their guests.  They even included a piece of their dance on video which you can see if you click on the link below!

Hi Jillian!!!

WE’RE MARRIED!!!

Thank you so much for everything that you taught us, it made such a difference and we were so comfortable out there, even though we were a little disoriented and didn’t move around the dance floor as much.

It was still a huge hit, especially the patty cake move – you’ll hear the screams [on the video].  :)

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!!!

THANKS,

Mr. and Mrs. Leonhardt

And this second one in from a wonderful couple who did two dances – one a fun and beautiful first dance but the second a great surprise.

The bride donned a red skirt with gold coins over her white dress and did a… you guessed it… a belly dance for her adoring groom whom we had seated in a chair for her sexy undulations!  At the end he got up and went down on one knee and took her in a swan-like dip!

Jillian -

Thank you so much for attempting to teach us to dance!  Both our dances were a hit – especially the belly dance!  We’ll send the video.

Thank you!

You’re Timeless To Me

Every now and then I get a couple who really wants to do something different!

Sandra and Mike were just such a couple.

Read on to find out about their dream first dance.

They loved the song You’re Timeless to Me from the musical Hairspray and decided to adapt the lyrics of it to their relationship and the year 2010, record themselves singing it and come to me to choreograph and block moves and dancing to this almost five minute ditty.

Click here to see this fabulously funny rendition of it on YouTube from the movie with Christoper Walken and John Travolta.

Well, needless to say, after about ten or so rehearsals and a heap of practicing they were absolutely show-stopping!

They mimed movement to the lyrics of their song and in the middle of it danced a full foxtrot, tango AND waltz with zesty abandon.  I can’t wait for a video of their dance from their wedding so I can post it for you here.

They said they nailed it and I believe it from all the fun and hard work we put into the practicing.

Here’s their testimonial and a lovely picture of them on their happiest day ever.

***

Jillian!

We had to get back to you to tell you how our dances [they also did a regular first dance to At Last - can you believe it?] went on Saturday!

WE NAILED IT!

We did not mess up at all!  They were beautiful!  What a surprise the second dance was to our guests!  They were in awe!  We can’t wait to see it on video!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

It was all because of you we did so well to entertain our guests.  I wish you could have been there!  Rose was great getting that chair on the dance floor for Mike and then removing it.

People were in shock that the CD was us singing!  Once we find out how to send you some pics our friends took of us dancing we will send them!  The nun surprise was fantastic!

It was the perfect wedding!

It was a dream wedding.

Thank you so very much!  Hope to see you soon!

Party Like It’s 2010!

It’s January and I woke up on the first day of this new decade and guess what -  we’re still in a recession, it’s still kind of cold (ok can’t really complain – the rest of the US in under tons of snow!) and what was that drink called???

If you’re like me you’re having lots of fun getting going and back into the swing of things so to speak.  So, what a joy it is for me to go through my giant stack of to-do items and post this amazing testimonial from a fabulous couple I taught last year.

**

Dear Jillian,

Thank you so much for helping us make our first dance so memorable.  We were pretty proud to have “nailed” our routine, although we’re still waiting to see our video!  :-)   You helped us make our Big Day even more special… so Thank You!

We will absolutely tell all of our friends and family about your services.  You were extremely patient, professional, and encouraging.

You were the perfect dance teacher!!!

We’ll email you some pics :-) and we wish you a joyous holiday season and blessed New Year!

Best Wishes, Michael and Jaime

Steppin’ for First Dance!

This just in!

Two gorgeous photos… of Roni and Vince’s first dance and wedding held on July 18th 2009.  They were loads of fun to work with and they wanted something a little different for their special song… Chicago Steppin’!

Chicago Steppin’, in case you’re wondering, is a super fun dance that you can see all over YouTube and check out on the internet from coast to coast. You may remember the hit song, “Step In The Name Of Love” by R&B singer R. Kelly.

It is a synchronized dance done with two or more dancers and usually to a 6 or 8 count beat.  Music chosen most often to “step” to includes: Jazz, Soul, Funk, R&B, Neo Soul or Rapp Music.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMz-6Qg9nGI&feature=fvw

To me it feels like a bit of Lindy, Jitterbug and West Coast Swing all rolled up into one easy going and sexy dancing style that has you out on the dance floor for every song the DJ can dish out!

Romantic Twirl!

Romantic Twirl!

Roni and Vince chose the song “This Is Us” by Keyshia Cole and proceeded to visit me for five lessons to learn basic linear and circular Steppin’ steps and also some cute spins, flip flops and dips.

We kept it simple, fun and easy going and relaxed right into it with cool looking footwork just like the big guys back East!

Here are some pictures and a wonderful message from Roni.

She also sent me one of her favors which was an adorable “Garden Greeting” wildflower seed paper in the shape of a flower with a heart cutout to plant and watch bloom!

Jillian,

Thank you for making our first dance a dream.  Yes, the kid’s did have a hand in helping us on the dance floor.  Everything was so wonderful and we are so happy.

Thank you again for teaching us to “step” together.  Love, Roni & Vince

So if you’re looking for a first dance that’s a little different from the usual foxtrot or waltz, Chicago Steppin’ might be just the dance for you and your prince or princess charming.

Email me some song ideas and we can come up with something fun for your dream first dance!

She’s Got A Way About Her…

Russ and Ruth Wedding Dancing

Russ and Ruth Wedding Dancing

I’m always overjoyed to receive testimonials and pictures from my graduated couples and this a.m. I was doubly happy to not only receive a wonderful email but from a couple who just got married last week!

Russ and Ruth came to me with not much time before their big day.  But we managed to get in a  two hour lesson block and kept it simple and elegant.

Soon Russ was boxing like he’d been dancing all his life and Ruth was smiling like the brightest star in the Fall night sky.

Here’s what they had to say after their big day…

Jillian,

People told us it was the best wedding they ever went to.  We had a great time.  Our dance routine was flawless.  Even the dip.

Thanks again.  Russ and Ruth

And beforehand…

Thank you for making our very first dance lesson [ever] comfortable and relaxed.  We already practiced our routine last night and found your notes to be very useful.

Monday Mail Makes Me Smile

Opening your email box can be a bit daunting on a Monday morning…

But not this morning!

I had a wonderful testimonial and some fabulous pictures from one of my wedding couples who got married May 2nd 2009 and held their reception at the Center Club in Costa Mesa.

Jessica and Vlad decided that they wanted some romantic moves to their gorgeous Romanian waltz song that was 4 1/2 minutes long.  They settled on some simple twirls, shadow work and a figure that moved them across the floor with style.  We learned a dip and as I could see from the wonderful photos they were all smiles as Jessica followed and Vlad led with a flourish!

Here are her kind words and pictures below for you to look at…

Jess and Vlad Wedding Dance

Hi Jillian,

I’ve been meaning to write to you and tell you how our Wedding Dance turned out… everyone loved it!!

While it wasn’t perfect, and Vlad stepped on my dress a few times, everyone was hooting and hollaring at the fact that we had this cool dance that we were doing.  We did all the moves and ended with our dip.

I’ve attached my Wedding Album photos in the link below.  You’ll recognize some of the moves in our Dance Photos!!  Thanks again for teaching us such a great routine!  I hope that all is well with you!!

Cheers!  Jess and Vlad
